For Caregivers

We offer programs for family members and others caring for an individual with a mental illness.  All of our programs are free, supported by our wonderful donors and sponsors.  Our support groups are open to all, members and non-members, to provide a safe place for sharing, information and support. Registration for support groups is  not required, just show up!

Beaufort

Third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 – 7:00 p

Bluffton/Hilton Head

NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program – a free, 12-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people living with mental illness. It is a designated evidenced-based program. Research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to an individual living with a mental health condition. NAMI Family-to-Family is taught by NAMI-trained family members who have been there, and includes presentations, discussion and interactive exercises.

NAMI Family-to-Family not only provides critical information and strategies for taking care of the person you love, but you’ll also find out that you’re not alone. Recovery is a journey, and there is hope.  Click here for More

NAMI Basics—a 6-week course for caregivers of children and adolescents with mental illness. The course is taught by trained parents who have lived similar experiences with their own children and provides resources and practical insights to help parents navigate systems of care for their child.

The class is free but registration is required.

NAMI Homefront – is a free, on-line, six-session class for family, friends and significant others of Military Service Members and Veterans experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. It focuses on the unique needs of military and Veteran communities, such as post-deployment and post-discharge transitions. The course is designed to help family members understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being. The trained teachers of this course are also family members who have experience with military culture and understand having a loved one with a mental health condition.

If you are the family or friend of a Military Service Member or Veteran experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition (PTSD, anxiety, depression, etc.), NAMI Homefront offers vital information, support, communication skills and resources. The course is taught live by trained NAMI Homefront teachers. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. All participants are screened to ensure this class is appropriate for their needs. The class is free but you are asked to attend all six sessions.
